Back when headhunting was common in New Guinea vanquished enemies’ heads were displayed on special racks or in little windows in the men’s houses. Nowadays headhunting is illegal so these carvings are made to substitute for real heads or skulls in ceremonies. This classically painted head is 9.75 inches tall and comes on a custom mount.
